I'm having a strange problem on certain webpages that have text boxes... like on TPP where you review or respond to a review, and occasionally  also on gchat.  The problem is that the curser refuses to move forward and the text I input does a sort of "strike over" and doesn't move forward.  on TPP, it only happens when I hit "return".  If I write in one long paragraph, it's fine.  Otherwise, it acts stuck.  (I hope that description made some sense).  On gchat, I close the chat window and reopen it and it seems to reset.  I have NO clue why it does it on TPP.  I don't have the problem on other archives though I have a vague sense that it intermittently happens on other webpages that require text input.

Does anybody have a clue what might be going on and if so, how to fix it?  Thanks, guys :)  Any help or hints or even pointing in a potentially useful direction would be great.

I have that problem on TPP when I leave comments. It's been ongoing for a while so I thought it was a TPP problem (since it's the only place I ever experience it).

I just write out my entire comment, then add the returns.

It seems to work.

When I add the returns, it'll space them to a new line, but not add the interim line... it's weird.
Do you ever have the problem on other pages? Which browser do you use?

I don't have problems on other pages, but I don't think I'm visiting all the same ones you are. I'm using Safari -- but I don't think a lot of pages are tested to it. I suspect that it's very likely an issue of IE or Firefox being tested more than Safari is. I know when I just had a PC, I would only test web pages to those two.

Sounds like a browser issue (said the Luddite). I use a Mac and had to switch from Safari to Firefox because of excessive random wonkiness (not the same as yours but vexing enough, I vaguely recall, to make me switch). Firefox seems to operate much more smoothly.

Huh. That's interesting. I've been using Chrome for a while and can't remember if I had this problem with Safari. I don't use Firefox much b/c I find it slower, but maybe I'll try again...

Thanks!

I would suspect the browser... But, there is an LJ comm, Appleworld, where you can post your Mac problem and hopefully someone will have a solution. <3

I had those problems then I switched to Firefox, and that works just fine.
