OWL Awards!

Squees and congratulations to everybody on my flist who was recognized in this year's OWL Awards.  There are so many marvelous stories on the nominations lists, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the stories I'd not had the chance to get to during the course of the year.

Thank you to everybody who voted for my stories.  I am humbled, and thrilled, and in awe.

Tree of Life (my magnum opus from last year's SSHG Exchange) took bronze in Fire and Ice and Silver in Drama.

As to a Portrait, Gently Drawn (my Snuna from last year's Snuna Exchange) took Gold in Lunacy and Bronze in Hurt/Comfort.

And, finally...

Thistle Seeds took silver in 'Best Death Scene' (evil cackle... What?  It was written during Dark Fic Month on OWL! :D)


I have been so impressed by the quality and variety of stories on OWL and in the awards this year.  There is such spectacular variety and range here, and it's a pleasure to be amongst you all.

Hee! What amused me was that Annie's 'Dances With Daffodils' got runner up behind 'Portrait' in Lunacy, but then took first in best unconventional pairing.

Anyway, you did good. A perfect example for the rest of us from our HoH.

BTW Has the internal bit of the RAVEN Awards been abandoned?

Ah-- I read that wonderful Snuna last year, when miss_morland posted a rec. I don't think I realized it was yours. I really liked it; until I read it (and the one Miss M wrote), I didn't think a believable Snape/Luna could be written. I was pleased to be proved so wrong! Very well done.

Well, "Portrait" ran in Lunacy and H/C but not in Rare Pair. Since "Dances" is a marvelous story, seems to follow that it would take that category even though "Portrait" won in Lunacy.

As for the RAVEN internal Awards... if anybody in Ravenclaw wants to run it, it's fine with me. I just can't take it on myself. :)

Thank you! I had never even read Snuna until that Exchange. I'd just finished writing "Tree of Life" for the SSHG Exchange (The Story that Ate My Brain ^TM), and writing a different pairing appealed to me, as did the length limit :)

I have to say, it may be my favorite of all the fic I've written thus far. Ironic since I'm a pretty staunch SSHG OTP'er (though I'm branching out thanks to great recs from you and others :)).

Hee! One third place doesn't come close to comparing to your achievements.

Part of me wants to say, yeah, sure, I'll do it. Part of me is already planning how I would do it, but the reality is that I've been sleeping up to fourteen hours a day and have barely managed to write anything in weeks, so...

I just know that there are a few of our housemates nominated for various things who came away from the OWL Awards empty handed, so it would have been nice to see if they got something.

But someone might volunteer...
