Home from Terminus

In fact, I got home at about 1am Monday morning (being local, that wasn't all that hard to do), but have been fuzzy-headed and grouchy all day and so haven't wanted to post.

How is it that it never occurred to me that there would be such tremendous post-conference crashing? 

I will post a thorough accounting of the con when I'm less tired (which gives us a slightly lower chance of stupidity creeping in, like forgetting important stuff). 

But I just want to say that I met the most awesome people at Terminus.  Some of you I knew on LJ, a few of you I didn't (or only did through others' journals, or connected with very recently).   But can I just say?  Wow.   A more gracious, generous, warm, funny, wickedly smart, energetic and engaging group of women (and one guy... ) I couldn't have invented in my wildest imagination.  *thinks... Yeah.  My wildest imagination couldn't have made up some of the creative and intellectual stuff going on over there! *grins

And the programming was really good -- but the conversation and the playing (cosplay most definitely included), spectacular!

I think I started missing people as soon as I got in the car to go home :(

I think that the above qualifies as a really wordy squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Also, thanks in advance to all you guys who actually used  your cameras, for the sharing of the pictures. I greatly appreciate it...  :D

It was awesome to meet you in person, and I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to talk more. I would have loved to read your next chapter, but then, I know I will get that chance soon *grins*, and I'm really looking forward to it!

*blushes... I'm really glad that you guys put that fabulous dress on me -- thank you. Being Hermione was a blast.

Accompanying the Potions master was thrilling - Hermione got a bit flustered but would be very happy to have the chance to get used to it (and perhaps stay in character more consistently).

I'd be thrilled to be Hermione to your Snape anytime, Droxy.

I'm thinking about possible paper topics so that if accepted) it'll be easier for me to attend at least one of the cons next summer...

For me, not having the transition time of travel probably didn't help. One minute, I was Hermione at the ball, and within the hour, I was home.

*pounces on and hugs Mara tightly* I'm so glad there's still LJ. Watching everyone post their con thoughts and pictures isn't as good as being there, but it helps me feel "tapped in" still. Post-con crash is lousy, isn't it? But totally worth it, having gained new friends such as yourself. (And you really did make a truly lovely Hermione. Where did you and Droxy learn to dance like that? Yowza.)

Welcome home, to you, too! Was your trip smooth?

I was so depressed on Monday. I had no transition time -- half an hour and I was home. The crash was awful. LJ was really quiet, and then people got home and started checking in again. So, I had time to find you while you were in transit!

Thank you for the compliments. That costume was wonderful and, miraculously, worked so well for me! I felt so much like Hermione in that Potions Mistress dress and hat -- and wild hair!

It was great fun to dance with Droxy!Snape, especially the twirling and swinging. Next time, I'll get me a slow dance like those other hussies lovely fangirls who slow-danced with Severus. *harumph

Trip was very smooth, even my few hours waiting in the Midway airport between catching a cab with Michelle and Amy to see them off and waiting for my evening flight. Strangely enough, Midway has old-fashioned rocking chairs in the concourse at random intervals -- out sitting away from the usual seats (but near the electrical outlets). So I rocked, charged my mobile phone for a few hours, and people-watched. I got back to NC just after midnight and was home by 1am.

*laughs* But your dance was the most eye-catching, dramatic, and fun. Post-War Severus needs some fun. ;-)

I'm thinking Azkatraz next year, since folks kept saying that Leaky was going to be light on the intellectual programming. Dunno if that's true or not. Shame that Narrate isn't doing another one; they really got the mix right this year.
